Honor Rural Heroes in Your Community
Every day, volunteer firefighters, rescue teams and ambulance services work tirelessly to protect our rural communities. Their courage and commitment save lives, yet many of these local departments operate with limited resources. On National Heroes Day (July 20), Compeer Home is stepping up to honor their dedication with a $2,500 giveaway for rural first responders in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
From May 15 to June 30, enter for a chance to direct a $2,500 gift to a rural volunteer fire, rescue or ambulance department in your state. Winners will be announced on National Heroes Day (July 20), shining a spotlight on the brave individuals who keep our communities safe.

Why This Matters
Compeer Financial exists to champion the hopes and dreams of rural America by enriching agriculture. Through our sub-brand Compeer Home, we’re on a mission to support the growth and development of small towns by making rural living more accessible.
At Compeer, we believe in championing rural because we don’t just work in the communities we serve, we live here too. Our clients are like our neighbors, and we take care of our neighbors by uplifting the people and organizations that make rural life safe. Volunteer firefighters, rescue teams and ambulance services are essential to the well-being of small towns, and by giving back, we help ensure these communities continue to thrive.
See Our Support in Action
Supporting rural first responders is just one of the many ways we invest in rural communities. We also provide various grants and scholarships for graduating high school seniors. See the impact these opportunities have in our communities.
Agritourism & Education Centers
Establishing the Food + Farm Exploration Center
Wisconsin’s Food + Farm Exploration Center aims to bridge the gap between consumers and ag with hands-on immersive agricultural experiences and education. Compeer’s Fund for Rural America’s support helps the Center leave a lasting impact.
“The Center is connecting the disconnect around the general public’s understanding of where our food comes from, what goes into it, the people who make it happen, the technology behind it and how it gets from field to store to table.”
– Andy Reitz, executive director

Emergency Response Equipment Grants Change Lives
Ensuring first responders have access to essential equipment and tools changes – and possibly saves – lives, so we provide Emergency Response Equipment Grants to local volunteer fire, rescue and ambulance departments to make a difference.
“It’s gotten harder in rural communities to staff emergency response vehicles, especially ambulances. This grant helped neighboring communities pool resources to get a much-needed set of tools, allowing volunteers to help faster.”
– Bruce Vander Veen, volunteer firefighter
Compeer’s Fund for Rural America
Established in 2018, our Fund for Rural America focuses on giving within Compeer’s three-state territory in five areas important to our clients and rural communities:
One percent of our annual net earnings are allocated to the Fund, meaning $28.6 million has been reinvested in opportunities for rural residents and communities where our clients live.
