Compeer lending officer Leigh Rodebaugh says low inventory has driven up home prices in both rural and urban areas. Specific to rural properties, she says interest was getting stronger even before the pandemic as people searched for ways to get out of urban and suburban areas and out into the country. She also points to historically low interest rates as another market driver.
